Mission

HOPE WW MA is committed to helping children who are less fortunate in the Boston area.

We have chosen to help children in the Massachusetts Foster Care System and from Boston Inner City Schools to be our beneficiaries, as well as HOPE worldwide. Our goal is to give them a brighter future by providing them with the tools and support to help them have a better chance for success.

Location

Wedgewood Pines Country Club was established in 1998 by Phil and Joe Pittorino. As a father and son team, together, they first envisioned, then built the spectacular 18 hole golf course using their own manpower and sheer determination.

Recently named one of Massachusetts' six toughest golf courses, our dedicated agronomy team works tirelessly to ensure the best playing conditions possible. Walk on tee times, unlimited golf, cart or walking options, driving range, generous friends & family policies, leagues and an extensive tournament calendar allow our golfers to enjoy Wedgewood Pines to the fullest. On staff PGA professionals offering lessons and clinics, a fully stocked Pro Shop, practice greens and driving ranges complete our golf portfolio.

At the heart of our property stands the Clubhouse. At 20,000 square feet, our member level features detailed, wood grained locker rooms with steam and sauna, The 19th hole; a relaxed lounge offering appetizers, salads, sandwiches and burgers for lunch and dinner and The Harvard Room with fire-side dining or al fresco seating offering our members and their guests wonderful dining experiences year round. On the main floor beyond our foyer, a grand ballroom, covered terrace and full bar provide opportunities for larger celebrations along with corporate rooms for dining or team building.

Beneficiaries

This year's Hope Golf Classic is supporting the following programs

Mass Department of Children and Families (DCF)

HOPE WW MA works side by side with the Mass Department of Children and Families (DCF) each year.

We host a party for over 150 teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 from the cities of Lowell, Haverhill, and Lawrence, MA. We chose this age group because they are most often overlooked and forgotten. "This older age group of children is most often overlooked and forgotten in the state's foster care system and are made to feel unwanted in comparison with the younger children" HOPE worldwide provides a celebration during the holidays with scholarships, laptops and other gifts.

Hope Community Holiday Store

These stores were started to help our resident families during the holidays. Every parent wants to make sure their children have a gift to open on their day of celebration, but it can be a financial hardship. To ease that burden, HOPE opens a “store” every December where families can “shop” – at garage sale prices – for gifts for their children! In 2022 we operated two stores in the Boston and Framingham areas.

Hope Grant Fund

HOPE worldwide MA has created a grant fund to support volunteers in their efforts to help their communities. Grants have been awarded to college age students in their efforts to reach out to people suffering with homelessness. Other grants have supported Back to School supply efforts and similar outreach events. This program has encouraged volunteers to pursue opportunities to help and love their neighbors in unique ways.

Boston Teen Police Academy

The Boston Teen Police Academy is a summer program that provides a summer job to many teens. Their counselors and mentors are officers from the Boston Police Department. The Boston Teen Police Academy (BTPA) has been developed with 2 goals in mind:

1. To inspire a positive and transgenerational shift in the relationship between disadvantaged youth in the Greater Boston Area (GBA) and the Boston Police Department, building a bridge between the two that creates a strong and lasting partnership.

2. To fill in as mentors in the lives of children who believe they have none, or who believe they cannot succeed because they aren’t adequately supported by their current environment. To help develop and maintain a positive image of themselves, the police, and their communities is the BTPAs' main goal.

The mayor of Boston and police commissioners have supported this program by attending the commencement event each year since the BTPA was established over 12 years ago. The officers
are dedicated to monitoring and improving the lives of their students by prioritizing three factors with a high correlation to success in an at-risk environment:

1) Self-Confidence;

2) Personal Growth; and

3) Trust in Police as Authority Figures.

The BTPA was developed to be a living and viable role model, one which embodies leadership, trust, and community – one in which a path of opportunity can be provided as an alternative to the cycle of risk factors that minority youth face each day.
